I am helping CivSource South Africa to create the first directory of African fiscal hosts (also known as fiscal sponsors). This initiative forms part of its interventions to promote and strengthen fiscal hosting in Africa.
The directory’s primary objectives include the following:
- Visibility – to increase visibility and recognition of African fiscal hosts and showcase their services and expertise to organisations seeking fiscal hosting solutions.
- Knowledge generation – to deepen understanding of the trends, developments and characteristics associated with African fiscal hosts.
- Collaboration – to facilitate networking and partnership opportunities among fiscal hosts and organisations interested in supporting African initiatives.
The directory will also encourage more African organisations to become fiscal hosts.
To be included in the directory, an organisation’s services and activities have to align with the following definition of fiscal hosting:
Fiscal hosting (or fiscal sponsorship) is a practice in which established non-profit organisations and other entities (known as fiscal hosts) offer their administrative, financial and governance infrastructure to organisations or groups that do not have formal legal status, or the capacity to manage administrative and financial management tasks. It allows these entities to operate under the fiscal hosts’ non-profit and legal umbrella, enabling them to focus on their mission-driven activities while leveraging the hosts’ financial management, governance and compliance systems and infrastructure.
I invite all African organisations involved in fiscal hosting to complete the directory questionnaire – https://tinyurl.com/3xyvx469 – to secure their inclusion in the directory.
There is no cost associated with a listing in the directory.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, 23 August 2024.
You can contact me at – barnard.davidb@gmail.com – with any inquiries about the directory project or the questionnaire.
I would also appreciate any recommendations regarding organisations that should be included in the directory.
The online directory will be available via the CivSource Africa website before the end of 2024.
