Across Africa, NGOs are working in an increasingly challenging funding environment. Donor priorities continue to shift, competition for funding remains intense, and many NGOs are under pressure to do more with fewer and less predictable resources. For many NGOs, fundraising is no longer about securing the next grant, but about positioning themselves for long-term sustainability, resilience and the ability to continue serving communities in uncertain times.
It is against this backdrop that @AfricanNGOs and Hexa Media Africa officially launch the African NGO Fundraising Hub today.
This Hub is a strategic intervention developed in direct response to the realities African NGOs face daily. It exists because the sector told us, loudly and clearly, that there is a need for practical, accessible, Africa-centred fundraising support.
When we introduced the idea of the Hub in January 2026, the response from NGOs, fundraisers and sector stakeholders was overwhelmingly positive. Many shared their challenges, expectations and ideas. There was strong agreement that African NGOs need an online space where fundraising knowledge is easily accessible and shaped by African experiences, context and expertise. The anticipation and expectations have been both encouraging and humbling.
The African NGO Fundraising Hub is our response.
At its core, the Hub is designed to support African NGOs to strengthen their fundraising efforts and financial sustainability. It brings together information, insights and advice drawn from African fundraising experts, practitioners and organisations who understand the realities on the ground. It is a place where NGOs can engage with resources that speak to their context, and where experts and stakeholders can share knowledge, tools and opportunities that add value.
At launch, the Hub features a growing range of content, including thought leadership articles, practical fundraising guidance, expert responses to NGOs’ fundraising questions, curated funding opportunities, an events calendar, and a dedicated opportunities section highlighting publications, training courses and other material produced by African experts and organisations.
But the version of the Hub we are launching today is not the finished product. It is just a starting point – the foundation on which we will continue to build and expand.
The real strength and impact of the African NGO Fundraising Hub will depend on how it is used and supported by African NGOs and other stakeholders. While @AfricanNGOs and Hexa Media Africa are the custodians of the Hub, its relevance and value will be defined by the community around it.
We want the Hub to become a space where African NGOs regularly return to find answers, ideas, guidance, resources, and encouragement. Equally, it should be a space where fundraising experts and practitioners see value in sharing what they know, whether that is an article, a tool, a funding opportunity, a response to a question, or a lesson learned from experience.
Over time, we will introduce additional features informed by what NGOs tell us they need, as well as contributions and feedback from all stakeholders interested in the sustainability of African NGOs.
As we celebrate the launch, we invite you to actively engage with the Hub:
- Explore and use the information and opportunities;
- Share fundraising questions, challenges and experiences;
- Contribute articles, tools, opportunities or insights;
- Encourage others in your networks to engage with and support the Hub.
If you are committed to strengthening the financial sustainability and impact of African NGOs, this Hub is for you – and it will be stronger because of you.
The African NGO Fundraising Hub is live. This is only the beginning.
