Join @AfricanNGOs and EPIC-Africa on Thursday, 31 July 2025, for the official launch of our new report, “From Fragility to Fortitude: Building Resilient African CSOs in the Wake of the US Government Funding Collapse.”

In early 2025, the US Government decided to freeze and ultimately cut most of its international development assistance. This decision resulted in widespread programme terminations and funding withdrawals across Africa and the Global South.

The funding cuts disrupted vital programmes and services provided by African civil society organisations (CSOs), putting communities at risk and threatening the sustainability of many organisations.

To understand the depth and nature of this crisis, @AfricanNGOs and EPIC-Africa surveyed over 500 African CSOs during March and April 2025. The goal was to assess the impact of the funding cuts on their work, identify the strategies they used to navigate a rapidly changing funding environment, and recommend solutions for building long-term resilience.

64% of African CSOs previously funded by the US Government now face existential threats.

The report launch will foster a critical conversation, bringing together civil society leaders, funders and other stakeholders from across Africa to examine the impact of the funding cuts on CSOs and, more importantly, to chart a bold path forward.

The webinar will cover:
